“I dunno. What do you want for dinner?”
“What do we have at the house to eat?” or I get asked “Have you made anything yet?
Well, no. I usually hadn’t. And I am not exactly sure why. Most of my days are spent as a mom doing fun mommy things. Like play dates and lunch with friends. However I am kinda ashamed that I usually was not cooking for my family every night. We would eat leftovers or eat out. When I did decide to cook it was usually frozen produce or an easy recipe I found on Pinterest. Which may or may not have been super healthy for my family.
So when the opportunity came to review The Fresh 20, I jumped at the chance. I had heard about The Fresh 20 from one of my mommy friends, Jenn. She is a teacher and has been using the program for a while. She loved it and recommended it and I forgot about it almost as soon as she told me. You know how it is, you’re at the park or wherever and you just get distracted with the details. If I don’t write it down, it doesn’t exist.
So when the name popped up again I was excited. I had heard great things about this meal planning service. Essentially, you choose a plan that fits the needs of your family. They offer Classic, Vegan/Vegetarian, Gluten-Free, and even a lunch plan. Then every week you receive an email with a shopping list, food prep guide, and weekly menus. It’s wonderfully through and well thought out. Totally appealing to my type A personality.
The idea behind it is that there were no healthy meal planning services available. That today all families are busy and need quick, but healthy solutions to deter them from eating fast food and other unhealthy, but easy, alternatives. The meal plans are centered around 20 fresh, seasonal ingredients each week. All the meals build off of each other so you can prep and cook things ahead of time on the weekends to save you time during the busy school week. A great solution for those days the kids have after school activities, homework, bath, and bedtime at a decent hour.
What I loved the most, is they are simple and easy to follow recipes. I lose interest in recipes that have about more than 6 ingredients and especially ones that I have to make a special trip to the store because it calls for something I don’t keep on hand. They have even got that covered for you. They have a list of pantry staples and utensils you should have. They all incorporate in to their recipes. There were just a few that I did not already have. Like grapeseed oil and herbes de provence and everything else I had covered.
I enjoyed the variety of the meals and how all of the ingredients were incorporated in to a main or side dish. Not to mention, it’s extremely affordable. It’s just $5.00 a month and billed in 3 month increments. So for $15 every 3 months your family gets to sit down to a healthy meal and gets an answer to “What’s for dinner” without stressing’ momma out. That’s a no brainer for me! Why wouldn’t you sign-up?
Would you like to try it for yourself? We are giving away a subscription! But don’t worry, even if you aren’t the lucky winner, you can visit The Fresh 20 and they will send you a free week! Enjoy!by
