What to do When You’re Overdue

November 2.  A date I have been looking forward to for 9 months came and went.  I know due dates are plus or minus 2 weeks, but let’s be honest ladies….Aren’t we all hoping for the minus 2 weeks scenario?  The app on my phone stopped at 40 weeks and I just got an e-mail asking to me to register my babies birthday for the Toys R Us birthday club, which I will do, when my child HAS a birthday!  I am actually pretty ok with my current situation.  I feel like I have been HUGE for the past month so I have been dealing with the same aches and pains for at least that long, and am pretty used to it at this point.  So, what have I been up to?  Here are a few suggestions if you ever find yourself in a similar situation.

1.  Keep your schedule as ‘normal’ as possible (a great suggestion from my friend Melissa @hergreenlife).- I stopped working the week of my due date, so it has been somewhat difficult to fill my schedule with other things.  But, that is what I have tried to do.  Lunch with a friend, grocery shopping, errands for my husband….it actually helps that it takes me forever to accomplish anything these days.

2.  Cook some meals to freeze for the coming months.- Not only does this take up time, it will be great to have some quick ‘go to’ meals in a few weeks when I don’t feel like cooking

3.  Prepare house for baby, recruit some help if possible.– I am lucky enough to have a couple good friends and my mother-in-law close by, and they are willing to come over for an afternoon to help with some of the tasks I can’t handle by myself anymore.  If you don’t have any friends or family to recruit, be sure to pace yourself, and don’t do anything you know you shouldn’t be doing!

4.  Take some well deserved ‘me’ time.-  Get a pedicure, take a warm bath, watch a movie, take a break with your favorite magazine.  You get the idea.  I hear that time to yourself is greatly limited after the little one arrives.

So, for the next few days, I am going to try to follow my own advice.  I promise to post about something other than pregnancy very soon….but as you can imagine, I am pretty consumed with the subject for the time being.  Thanks for following along!
