Weight Loss Wednesday, Rachel Weighs In

My Turn!  Since Maggie and I are both working on losing the baby weight, we will be sharing ‘Weight Loss Wednesdays’ for a while. I guess I should start at the beginning…

I was a skinny kid that could eat whatever I wanted and not gain a pound.  I was hoping that trend would continue but unfortunately, I found my ‘freshman 15’ when I went off to college.  Then, gradually I found 15 more…..and after that, I lost count!  In 2007 I was trying to decide whether I was going to be happy having to shop in the plus size departments for the rest of my life, or if I was going to turn things around.  I attended a Weight Watchers meeting just to see what the program was like and decided to give it a try.  I lost weight my first week and was surprised at how easy it was to follow the program. I decided to continue.  Long story short, I lost 35lbs in 6 months, applied to work for WW and am a WW leader today! (disclaimer: Yes, I work for WW.  No, this is not an advertisement for the program.)

One of the reasons I decided to try to lose the weight was because I knew I wanted to try to have children someday.  I also knew that it was common to gain weight during pregnancies and didn’t want to gain more and more weight with each one.  I figured, if I learned to lose weight before having kids, it might be easier to lose it after having kids.

So here I am.  2 months after my son was born with about 30 lbs to lose.  I have gradually started to exercise (more on that later!) and am getting back into the swing of watching what I eat.  I attend a meeting (as a member) on Mondays and will report my results here.

Meeting Date:  1/9

Weight: 168

Goal:  Walk my loop around the neighborhood 5 of 7 days

Motivation:  Get back into some clothes that fit!  I am sick of having nothing to wear!!
