We have had A LOT of rain lately!! Even with all the rain I’m thankful that we haven’t had too many bad storms, so the kids have been able to go out and play in the rain, which they love to do. And in an effort to keep the kids (and myself) from going stir crazy the rest of the time, we have done a couple of fun activities.
One day we made it outside between showers to play with Magic Muck. This stuff is pretty awesome, it turns into a ball when you squeeze it in your hand and then turns back to liquid when you open up your hand. The best part? It is simple to make and clean up! All you need are: ¾ cup cornstarch, 1/3 cup water, 5-7 drops food coloring. We doubled our batch of Magic Muck and took it outside. When we were done I got out the water hose to rinse the wheelbarrow and the kids.
Another super simple activity is letting the kids see what they can build with marshmallows and toothpicks. We came up with a marshmallow martian, caterpillar, monster truck and mountain to name a few. My kids thought this was great fun since they usually aren’t allowed to play with their food!
We kept some of the marshmallows and made s’mores! Even though we couldn’t warm our marshmallows over the fire, the end result was still yummy and kid-approved!
What have you been doing to pass the time on these rainy days?by
