Project: Coupon Clueless and on a Mission!

Thursday , 23, February 2012 2 Comments

Ok moms, I have embarked on a new adventure! My new adventure is creating and sticking to a budget and drastically lowering my grocery bill! My husband and I went through our spending habits and I was seriously called out for my overspending on groceries.

I must admit I do spend quite a bit, and yes, it can be reduced and probably by a lot. I am about to spill the beans and tell you what I spend…are you ready….between $800-$850.00 a month and sometimes it is more if our family eats out. I know what you’re thinking…it is such a waste of money!! Well, you are right, it is and now I am going to do something about it. I am going to set a budget, stick to it and the biggest of all:  use coupons!!!!!!!!!!!

Using coupons is a big deal for me, as I have never used a grocery coupon before (I know it is insane) and I am completely clueless!!!  It is time for the baby basics, I need some coupon 101!!I have learned some great tips so far from the wonderful ladies I have met through the PTC Moms and Kids Meetup (!!! I have also been directed to a great site:

I will be shopping once a week with a grocery budget of around 125.00 (500.00) a month! This is a BIG change for me. I will be hitting the stores on February 29th and I need all the luck I can get! Please cross your fingers for me.

I will follow-up and post on my shopping experience. I will also share my savings and I am hoping I will SAVE a bunch!

Please wish me luck and Happy Couponing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My heart is pounding already!

( Did you know Rachel did a 3 part series for beginning couponing?  Check out Couponing Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3 !)

My name is Amy and I am a WFHM (work from home mom) with a wonderful daughter named Madeline, a fabulous husband named Jeremy and a fun-loving dog named Kahlua (named by the Humane Society). I love our family time and I enjoy sharing memories of these great times with other moms!  When my schedule is open (when is that) I like to run, shop, and go to Starbucks (yes, I might have a little addiction to coffee). Hope to share more of my stories, interests, and drama with you all.

So, I’m really looking forward to hearing how this goes! One thing I was thinking is that you may want to throw meal planning into your mix of plans. It will sure help you stay in your budget, otherwise you still might end up going back to the grocery store more then you want to!
