PB&J Sushi-style Roll

Last night I was at a bit of a loss when it came to the Goober’s evening meal, so I decided to try my hand at making a peanut butter and jelly roll-up that I had seen on Pinterest. I didn’t follow a tutorial; it is such an easy concept that I just winged it.

Here’s my take on it:

Step 1: Gather your ingredients, in this case: bread, peanut butter, strawberry jam, a butter knife for spreading, and a sharp knife.

Step 2: Smush bread flat and trim off crust.

Step 3: Spread on peanut butter thinly over half the slice, and then do the same for the jam on the other half. You can also spread both the peanut butter and the jam over the entire slice, I just personally found the ½ and ½ gave me a cleaner looking roll at the end.

Step 4: Roll up the bread tightly (this part can get a little messy).

Step 5: Cut the roll into small pieces. I found that rotating the roll as I cut helped maintain the shape better.

Step 6: Enjoy!

The pieces came out pretty small, which worked out great since I was making them for a 1 year old, but might be a bit small for older PB&J aficionados. The best part about this meal was that it only took about 5 minutes to throw together, so maybe only 2 minutes longer than the traditional sandwich. I can’t wait to try a Nutella version!
