My Mother in Law got the book Little Blue Truck by Jill McElmurry for Eli for Easter and it has quickly become one of my favorites. When choosing books for Eli’s (and my future children’s) collection, I try to choose books that I won’t dread reading over and over. Little Blue Truck fits the bill!
Here are my reasons:
*It has a great story. Blue is friends with everyone and they end up helping him out when he needs a hand. A great lesson to learn early in life.
*Very cute illustrations. Colorful characters and scenery are on each page!
*It has a good rhythm. When reading this book it is very easy to get into a sing-songey pattern. I like the way the words flow.
*It is durable! This is especially important now that Eli is teething and wants to chew on everything he can get his hands on. This is a ‘board book’ but has more than just three words on each page, which I find is common for many board books.
*There is a sequel. Little Blue Truck Leads The Way is equally as cute and has a great story as well. I hope that the author chooses to continue the series.
