Well, I think that I am “liking” this assignment. Sometimes I feel like a helicopter hovering over and looking down on the hundreds of things that I need to accomplish but never really landing to accomplish them. In stating my goals for this week and beyond, it gives me a form of accountability. Not only am I reminding myself of what I would like to accomplish, I am putting it out there for all of you in the blogosphere. So while I know there is a lot to do, I will not overestimate by abilities or give you a false impression that I am going to accomplish a million things this week. I will however, let you know what the important items are that I would like to accomplish are.
1) This week I turn thirty something:-). As I get up there in age, I have a few things on my bucket list that I would like to accomplish. I guess that happens when you see yourself getting up there. The first thing that I would like to do is to organize myself better. This is one of those goals that should be long term. However, baby steps please. I believe in starting small.
2) I would like to make a good plan of action for completing my doctoral degree in the next 9 months. This is the week that I will put my plan of action down on paper and submit it to my faculty mentor. This degree seems like it is taking me forever. I read somewhere that most writing down your goals makes you more likely to accomplish them.
3) I would like to stop procrastinating so much. Yes another goal that should be long term, but again, baby steps please. I don’t know why. It seems that no matter how I plan and what I do, I still get behind. This week I will do better at this. This too has a lot to do with the first goal.
4) Lastly, I want to take the time to enjoy life. If it is one thing that I have learned in my thirty something years it is that there are no do overs in addition time waits for no one. I want to enjoy every moment. With me celebrating another year this week, I think that this is the perfect time to make even more of an effort to do so.
