I think we can all use some money saving tips. Weather you are rolling in dough or having a hard time making ends meet, there is something gratifying about finding a deal, being thrifty, or otherwise saving a few cents. Some of us even enjoy the challenge. So consider this the first edition of ‘Money Saving Mondays’!
Here are a few things you can do to save money:
-Use the local Library. Seems like a no-brainer, right? I had no idea that my local library is part of a network and that I can reserve books, and they magically appear at the branch closest to me. I get an e-mail when the book I reserve arrives at my local library. I used this service for a few childbirth books, and am currently waiting on the Hunger Games (yes, I know I am late to the party, but I do want to read this series before the movies come out.)
-Buy and Sell on Craigslist! I have purchased quite a few items on CL including our current changing table, recliner, and loveseat. I have sold a bike, and a drum set…but also smaller items like a pair of cycling shoes and a comforter set. Anything that I no longer use can become money in my wallet!
-Hit local Consignment sales. Maggie and I have visited quite a few of these sales in our area. We even posted about them here, here and here. Find some great deals on clothes and other supplies for your kiddos.
These ideas may not be earth shattering, and they probably won’t make you rich, but saving money here and there helps me feel less guilty when I want a $3 drink at Starbucks!by
