Manic Monday– Grandma Style!

Monday , 17, September 2012 3 Comments

I just read Rachel’s Manic Monday blog post from earlier this month and it got me thinking…I remember those days! To be honest, I was also thinking…sure glad that’s not my drill anymore! Now Eli is as cute as they come and I love being around him. I love my grandchildren and love to have them around. However, I really do love the fact that I don’t have kids at home 24/7 anymore. Any other grandparents out there who can relate to that?

Here’s what my Monday looks like…

5:00 – 5:20 – Get up to get hubby off to work with hot coffee, a healthy breakfast sandwich and a lunch packed with a sandwich and healthy snacks.

5:20 – 6:00 – Sit and drink my coffee while playing facebook games.

6:00 – 8:00 – Shower, get dressed, eat breakfast and drive to my Weight Watcher meeting. Yes, I work for Weight Watchers too.

Noon – around 5:30 – Only things I want to do. Eat lunch, take a nap, go for a run, catch up on emails, play more facebook games, play Wii games, talk on the phone, shop online, the list goes on and on of the things I can do but the key is that I do whichever and whatever I want to do. Note: This is the fun part of being a (retired) grandma. Most days I talk, text or chat online with my oldest granddaughter either before she goes to school or after she gets back home. I also talk to both my son and daughter on the phone most Monday’s to see how their weekend went. I plan visits to see the grandkids (they live in South Georgia) or have them come to my house. If an RV camping trip is already planned, I might do some shopping to find fun things for them to do if it rains while we’re at the park. I recently scored at the Rite Aid Clearance Rack for our RV trip that’s planned in a couple of weeks. I got lots of fun games and activities for them to do inside and outside for 75% off. I couldn’t afford to leave them there!

5:30 – bedtime – Dinner with hubby, go for a walk, watch some favorite tv shows although there aren’t many these days, just more chilling until bed time.

Yes, I love my slow pace of life but those of you who know me know that not all of my days are this quiet or relaxed. That is another reason I cherish the ones that are!

First of all….yes, that sounds nice. Second, I KNOW your schedule only looks like this once or twice a week. You need to learn how to be retired for real!
