Julie's Manic Monday

If you haven’t read the other “Manic Monday” posts, go here and here to read them. I’ve sure had fun seeing how Rachel and Mary start the week! Here’s how last Monday went for me:

Bright and early! The shriek of my alarm goes off at 5:45. Thankfully, my coffee maker has a timer, so my coffee is ready and waiting for me (provided I remembered to set it up the night before). Big Sister’s alarm goes off at 6:15, so I have a few minutes to sip my coffee, wake up, and catch some news before the rush to get ready for school starts. Little Brother is in an up-early streak, and sure enough, he toddles out of his room at 6am. This is one of the few times of the day he’s actually still enough to want to snuggle, so I don’t mind the company. Sister joins us as her alarm goes off, and these few minutes of the day are blissfully perfect.

6:30-7:15: I make the kids some breakfast and hustle Sister along to get ready for school. I get Brother dressed, as well as myself-I usually stumble out to the bus stop in my pajamas (don’t judge) but I try to make the 8:15 pilates class at my gym on Mondays.

7:15-8:00: We see Sister off to school and then head back inside. I eat my breakfast, check email, facebook, and Good Morning America for a few minutes before we head off to the gym.

8am-12pm: Mondays differ, but I usually do some form of errand running or playdate attending. Sometimes I do double duty on my workout and hit up Lake Peachtree, but since it was raining cats and dogs, that’s out for this Monday. Brother and I eat lunch with the moms group at Chick-Fil-A, and after he’s properly worn out, we head home for a nap. Luckily he falls asleep on the way home so the usual fight at naptime doesn’t happen. I do a few chores around the house and touch base with the hubby, who I haven’t seen since Saturday night (he has a crazy schedule.) I also make a mental note of an afternoon snack for everyone.

2:40-4pm: Big Sister off the bus. We eat a snack, talk about what she did that day, and do any homework she has, which for kindergarten, isn’t much.

4-6pm: Go play! I shoo the kids outside and we join them. Big Brother isn’t quite ready to go over to the neighbor’s house unattended, but I don’t mind sitting outside in our driveway while all the big kids play, and he looks so proud of himself that he’s one of the gang!

6pm-8pm: Eat dinner, then head out for a family walk before we come in to bathe the kids-hubby tackles that job while I finish up cleaning the kitchen. Before bed is always a story or 5-that’s my job, and hubby goes to lie down with Little Brother, who is a notorious terrible go-to-bedder. I tuck Sister in and fall in a heap on the couch at the end of the day!
