Free Shelf + Mis-matched Bins = Organized Baby’s Room

Most parents spend a decent amount of time preparing a room for their new baby.  Whether you have a large budget or a small one, choosing a theme, colors, and the right furniture are key to having a happy baby…..ok, I kid.  I didn’t really care to have the most trendy, extravagant baby room, but did want it to be cute and functional.

I was lucky enough to have a few really good pieces of Eli’s room handed down, or gifted to us.  His crib was leftover from my sister’s two boys.  I found the dresser/changing table on craigslist, and my In-laws purchased it for us.  Remember this post about the glider I found at a consignment sale last year?

Well, one of my work locations got new furniture, leaving a few shelves that needed a new home.  I jumped on the opportunity to re-purpose a couple shelves….for free!  I got two shelves and placed the taller one next to the dresser/changing table. (the smaller one holds Eli’s books)  Then I found a basket, and 3 drawer organizer that were just sitting around my house (collecting dust!).  I purchased a few canvass bins that serve as storage, and also add some color.  I really love the way it turned out.  I use most of the items on these shelves every day.  It is SO functional and doesn’t look half bad.

My only thought is maybe adding some cute labels to some of the containers for people that watch the baby. I suppose your frequent sitter won’t need them!

Ah, yes. Cute labels are a good idea!
