Fall Maternity Fashion–On A Budget

Monday , 4, November 2013 11 Comments

Last time I was pregnant, I was due in early November.  That means I spent the majority of my pregnancy in the summer months.  Therefore, I was lacking in fall maternity attire.  My body is not the type that can wear ‘regular’ clothes throughout my pregnancies, so I definitely needed to find some appropriate maternity clothing for the fall….without breaking the budget.  With holiday travel, presents, fall and winter birthdays, and an anniversary approaching, the last thing I want to spend my families money on are a bunch of clothes I will only wear for 6 months.  BUT, I can’t spend the fall and winter in shorts and capris, so I did need to do some shopping.  Luckily, I have a few great consignment shops in my area that have wonderful maternity sections, so that is where I started my hunt.  I was also given a few items by friends that are done having babies, and rounded out my wardrobe with a few pieces from a yard sale.  I can now say that I am SET for fall maternity clothes, and even found a great winter coat (more about that in a future post).  Here are a few of the ensembles I was able to put together with my thrift store finds, my own closet, and a couple brand new items from a maternity store.

Ensemble #1

Top: Tunic from Old Navy maternity purchased at a local yard sale–$5

Bottom: Leggins from Motherhood Purchased at Motherhood Maternity in Newnan–$24.98, buy one get on half off

Notes:  I only purchased two brand new items for my maternity wardrobe, these black leggings, and a pair of brown ones just like them.  I know they will get lots of use this fall and winter.  I added some color to this otherwise drab outfit with a scarf that I already owned, but could have also used a colorful belt and jewelry. Grand total for this outfit–$23.75

Ensemble #2

Top: Plaid Motherhood blouse purchased at a consignment store in San Antonio.  Yes, I even check out consignment stores when I’m traveling!–$9

Bottom: Motherhood jeans purchased at Red Door Consignment in Tyrone– $6

Notes: I’m a sucker for plaid so I splurged for this blouse, and still only paid a fraction of what it would have been new.  The jeans were a steal and get worn at least twice a week.  The shoes and belt I already owned. Grand total for this outfit is $15

Ensemble #3

Dress: Purchased at The Pink Hanger in Sharpsburg– $7

Notes:  I was searching for something to wear for our fall family photos and couldn’t find what I wanted (in my price range) at any of the ‘new’ stores.  I decided to run in to The Pink Hanger and thought this patterned dress would look good with the outfits I had picked out for my boys.  I knew I wanted to wear it with my knee high boots that I got for my birthday last year.  Grand total for this outfit: $7

Ensemble #4

Top: Pink Motherhood Sweater purchased also at a consignment store in San Antonio- $12

Bottom: Jeans purchased at Red Door Consignment- $4

Notes:  This is probably my favorite outfit of the 4 listed here.  I really wanted a couple comfy, cozy tops and this pink sweater is perfect. It is so soft and just a little bit big–for now.  Grand total for this outfit-$20

I have been in the same predicament in regards to Fall Maternity Fashion. My first son was born in September so I had zero Fall clothing from the first time.

This time, I purchased a few items from Motherhood Maternity which were on clearance back at the start of summer. Other than that, I’ve been scoping out consignments stores like you. I love the dress in photo #3!

These are great picks! I was pregnant in the fall with both of my pregnancies. I love shopping at consignment stores too.

  • I can’t choose a favorite because they all have different purposes. I like each of them!

  • I like #3 the best. I hated to spend so much money on maternity clothes when I was pregnant. I love how you used lots of item you already had.
