Along with the wonderful fall weather comes ALOT of fall festivals here in Georgia! I recently came across this listing of festivals for the entire state of Georgia and I think you could spend every weekend festival-hopping. I love the wide array of festivals and activities, so we took advantage of a festival that was close to home and that we thought the kids would really enjoy.
We went to the Fall Festival at McIntosh Reserve Park. This is a festival celebrating Native American Indians and their presence locally. When we arrived we checked out some of the vendors, the kids bounced in the bouncy house and got their faces painted. The main attraction started with the Grand Entry of the tribes who were serenaded by drummers and singers from the tribes. Not only were the participants dressed in ceremonial dress but we also learned about some of the dances they performed and even got an etiquette lesson (hint: don’t enter a teepee if the flap is down!)
Festivals are a great way to get the whole family out of the house, enjoy the beautiful weather and maybe even learn something new! What festivals have you been to this year??by
