Contributor Corner: Date Night!

What do you do when you have a night out without the kids?  Our contributors weigh in with what they do for date night.

Like most parents, my husband and I find it a challenge to carve out a little time for ourselves, but when we do, we generally end up going out to eat.  It is truly a luxury to be able to eat an entire meal that I didn’t cook, or have to clean up.  We recently went to Los Gordos in Newnan and enjoyed their delicious Cuban food, and their hospitality.  One restaurant I look forward to trying is The Redneck Gourmet, I have to say the name intrigues me, so I guess we’ll have to schedule a date night soon!

For date night, we like to go to Mellow Mushroom in Peachtree City and play trivia, hosted by The Trivia Factory. It starts at 7 and reservations are recommended, otherwise you might not get a table! We’ve also walked over to the Tavern on 74 (in the building next to Mellow Mushroom) for a couple of drinks afterwards. A little “dive-y,” sure, but a good atmosphere with the right friends.

Before Eli, hubby and I had a weekly date night.  We were not super creative about our outings, mostly we went out to dinner, but it was nice to get out of the house together.  We have enjoyed meals at The Redneck Gourmet and O.B.’s Bar B QuePartners Pizza in Fayetteville has trivia on Tuesday nights (and also has locations in Tyrone, Peachtree City, and Newnan).  We will have to get back into the groove of date night soon.  I would love to have a conversation that is not interrupted by our little man (and one where neither hubby or I have a computer on our lap!).

A date night for us would be a quiet dinner out at a sushi restaurant and a movie at home (if the kids are away) through Netflix or Amazon Prime.  Sushi is our go-to date night food because it is something that we both usually agree on.   The two sushi restaurants we really like are Nikko in Tyrone and She’s Bistro and Sushi in Peachtree City.  We usually go to She’s Bistro because it is much closer (we can get there on our golf cart) and there’s more than just sushi to choose from (Nikko also has hibachi).  We have been to Green Ginger for sushi and the atmosphere was nice.  There was a jazz band playing in the background and there is an iPad at every table.

Date Night? What is that?  🙂  Anyway, we like Franks at the Old Mill.  And I’d really like to go to Midieval Times before I leave Georgia.  *Ahem* Just saying.
