I get excited for the holiday season each year because that means it is time to break out the Christmas Movies! I have watched a few Christmas movies with my nephews throughout the years, becuause watching kid movies with a kid is better than watching them alone. Hopefully, Eli will enjoy some of my favorites as he gets older. I would like to start a tradition of opening one present on Christmas Eve that will consist of a new pair of Pajamas , or Jams as I call them, and a Christmas movie that we can watch together. Bring on the popcorn!
Some of my favorites include:
Home Alone & Home Alone 2 are my favorite Christmas movies of all time. I enjoyed them when I was younger, and still love them to this day. My siblings and I, and all of our kids watched Home Alone over the Thanksgiving Holiday to kick off the season. I think we annoyed the kids by reciting all the lines along with the movie. It is so quotable!
I just watched Arthur Christmas for the first time this year and think it is so cute! I love movies that are appropriate for kids, but also have some funny lines that only adults understand. Arthur Christmas is about Arthur, the son of Santa Clause, who is not nearly into the whole Christmas thing as his dad and older brother. Chaos ensues as Arthur and his grandfather, ‘Grand Santa’ have to save Christmas. I am not sure who enjoyed the movie more, My 2 year old nephew, or my 29? year old husband!
Love actually is a newer addition to the list. Of course, this one is not a kid movie. It is heartwarming, funny, and a little cheesy, but I love it. I like how all of the story lines come together at the end. It is a bit of a chick flick, but not so much that my husband won’t sit through it with me.
Now, I am not a huge fan of all of the classic Christmas movie cartoons, you know…Peanuts, Rudolph, Frosty, Garfield, but my husband loves them. He grew up watching all the classics each year. I am sure we will work them in to the rotation!
