Hubby and I had the rare opportunity to go out to eat (by ourselves!) this week. We headed to Applebee’s to try out a few of the new items on their ‘Jazzed up Flavors of Bourbon Street’ menu. Check out these videos that feature Applebee’s executive Chef, Patrick Humphrey. Chef Humphrey went to Louisiana for inspiration in creating this menu. The objective of this menu is to bring New Orleans’ unique flavors and food traditions to people across America .
So, what did we think? Well I think hubby summed it up best when he said ‘Yeah, this doesn’t taste like typical Applebee’s food. The flavor profile is definitely different.’ I agree!
I enjoyed the: Shrimp Combo Platter–Which is described on the menu as ‘Blackened shrimp served over almond rice pilaf in an Herb & Ale scampi sauce and paired with crispy friend shrimp. Served with fresh, sautéed spinach and Roma red pepper relish on the side.‘ They had me at shrimp, and shrimp two ways is even better! The sauce on the rice had just the right amount of spice and LOTS of flavor. I topped off my evening with a white peach sangria which was delicious!
Hubby had the: Creamy Cajun Steak & Shrimp— A blackened sirloin topped with Cajun shrimp and served with fried red potatoes, spinach, mushrooms, and pepper & onions. Finished with Applebee’s white win Andouille sauce. There was nothing left on his plate, so he must have liked it.
We had a great evening! Applebee’s would like for on of YOU to have a great evening too. Register below to win a $50 gift card to Applebee’s. Giveaway ends Thursday, March 21 at Midnight.by
