A few days back one of my husbands Facebook friends posted about Mint Chocolate Muddy Buddies (also known as puppy chow) and as I sat there thinking about how good that sounded (I’m a mint fan) I realized – hey! I can do that! And it will be E-A-S-Y because I have the perfect ingredient sitting right in my freezer!
I gave this a couple of test runs and it has passed my 4 year olds taste test. This is an addicting snack – mint or no!
4 cups Chex cereal
1 cup Andes Creme de Menthe chips
1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
1/4 cup butter
1 1/2-2 cups powdered sugar
Combine Andes mints, peanut butter, and butter in a microwave safe bowl. Microwave on high for one minute. Stir until creamy. (If not fully melted, microwave in 30 second intervals, stirring between each.)
Pour melted chocolate over cereal and mix with a spoon until cereal squares are coated. You can now add powdered sugar and mix. I’m not very good at getting an even coat so I dump the cereal mixture with the powdered sugar into a bag, seal and shake it up – or let the kiddos shake!
Try not to eat it all in one day! – Or is that just me?
*I have searched Reindeer chow on google and gotten some completely different recipes. But I thought it was fitting: Puppy chow/Reindeer chow…you know!
